Application Deadline: December 15
Thank you for your interest in the graduate program in History at the University of California Los Angeles. The Department has been ranked among the top History Departments in the country for the past five years.
The Department of History offers a Ph.D. program. It does not offer a terminal M.A. The program requires full-time attendance, and classes are held during the day.
Even prior to formal application, we encourage you to start an e-mail dialogue with one or two faculty members in your field of specialization. You will need to have at least one faculty member who will be interested in working with you.
Fees for the 2007-2008 academic year will be $8,967.50 for three quarters. Out-of-state residents or non-resident aliens must also pay a non-resident tuition fee of $14,694. (Registration fees and non-resident tuition are subject to change.) State residency can be established after living in California for one continuous year. Students must apply to the Residency office in Murphy Hall. Once residency has been established, a student is exempt from non-resident tuition and pays only fees.
