 The UCLA Department of History will conduct its Commencement Celebration on:

The 2012 Department of History Commencement Speaker will be Chester ("Chet") J. Pipkin. Chet Pipkin is founder, CEO and chairman of the board of Belkin International, an award-winning technology and consumer electronics brand leader worldwide. He started Belkin in his parents’ garage while majoring in history at UCLA, and has been a three-time finalist in the Los Angeles Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Chet has been an advisor and board member for many non-profit local and state organizations, and is board chair of the Da Vinci Charter Schools. A civic leader, he is active in public policy for education, resource management, and technology. He was appointed to the California Education Technology Task Force and the Transition Advisory Board for the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. He serves on the UCLA History Department's Board of Advisors.

INFORMATION: Graduating seniors who wish to participate must arrive and check in by 8:30 am, dressed appropriately (cap and gown).

The ceremony is expected to last approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hours, and will include:
|
- opening remarks by the chair
- recognition of honors thesis (if completed in time)
- awards
- naming of candidates for the Bachelor's degree
- closing remarks by the chair
|
|
|
On-line ticket ordering via My.UCLA will be available May 1 through May 15. Until May 15, you may modify or cancel your guest ticket orders. |

Orders for invitation, caps and gowns will begin March 1st at ASUCLA Graduation Etc. The college store is located on the A-level of Ackerman Union. |
