Michael Cahn, Visiting Lecturer
Michael Cahn holds a Ph.D from the University of Konstanz, Germany. He also qualified there as a Privatdozent (Dr phil habil) in the field of comparative literature. More recently, his work and teaching was on the history of the book, print and publishing, the history of communication systems. For the historian, communication and transportation offer a fascinating area to analyze the interplay of the larger system and the elements which make up that system. The field challenges use to develop new tools to describe how technical and social dimensions interact over time.
He has also been interested in transport policies in Los Angeles, especially the role of non-motorized transportation (bicycle use).
