Tony Wood, Author and Deputy Editor of New Left Review - "Chechnya After Putin"
As Vladimir Putin leaves the Kremlin, what has been the balance-sheet of his policy in the North Caucasus? Tony Wood will assess the outcomes of the ‘anti-terrorist operation’ launched in Chechnya in 1999, and ask whether the current process of ‘stabilization’ is likely to provide stability for the region in the long term.
Tony Wood is author of the Chechnya: The Case for Independence (Verso, 2007).
This event is co-sponsored with the Center for European and Eurasian Studies.
