Research Interests
I am interested in focusing on the development of physical culture in the Ottoman Empire. I want to explore the emergence of ?physical education? and ?sports? in the context of new understandings of the body and a late nineteenth-century Ottoman discourse on cleanliness and physical fitness as a means to understand culture and cultural change during the late nineteenth-century.
