My dissertation will focus on the political culture of Savannah, Georgia, from 1885 to 1910. Political battles over segregation were a defining aspect of Savannah’s transformation into a modern city of the New South and marked a contentious renegotiation of political and racial dynamics that would endure in the city for decades.
